Frederick Douglass Park, Anne Dallas Dudley Boulevard, the Ryman Auditorium’s Confederate Gallery. All three were in the news this summer — the first via a correction, the second a celebration and the third a contextualization. And local attorney and historian David Ewing had a hand in each. Ewing’s brand of public history is both accessible and effective.
